About Finnfast

Finnfast is the name of the road project with the mainland connection to Finnøy municipality, to the north of Stavanger in Rogaland.

The project involved building a undersea road tunnel, and since Rennesøy had gotten a mainland connection in 1992 in the form of Rennfast, Finnøytunnelen was built from the island of Rennesøy to Finnøy with an intersection and separate road in the tunnel leading to Talgje.

Finnfast opened on 30 October 2009.

On 1 July at 00:00, the collection of tolls for Finnfast ended.

In the revised national budget for 2021, the Storting allocated NOK 130 million to phase out toll collection for Finnfast. The expected repayment year without grants was 2023.
