What are Time differentiated rates?

Time differentiated rates mean that there are higher charges during rush hour than the rest of the day.

Tollring in Kristiansand: (Time differentiated rates were introduced 16. September 2013.)

  • Higher rates: Monday to Friday in rush hours from 06:30 – 09:00 and 14:30 – 17:00
  • Lower rates: Monday to Friday outside of rush hours, Saturday, Sunday and holidays.

Tollring in Bergen: (Time differentiated rates were introduced 1. February 2016.)

  • Higher rates: Monday to Friday in rush hours from 06:30 – 09:00 and 14:30 – 16:30
  • Lower rates: Monday to Friday outside of rush hours, Saturday, Sunday and holidays.

Tollring in Nord-Jæren: (Time differentiated rates were introduced 25. March 2019.)

  • Higher rates: Monday to Friday in rush hours from 07:00 – 09:00 and 15:00 – 17:00
  • Lower rates: Monday to Friday outside of rush hours, Saturday, Sunday and holidays.

The main objective of time differentiation is to reduce traffic in busy periods and avoid the worst traffic jams. Reducing traffic in the morning and afternoon rush may lead to reduced emissions and contribute to improved air quality.
